# World Map

## Color countries and share a world map

Select countries, give them colors, add labels, and share the result as a link. You can draw and share without an account. Sign in to save an editable map for later use.

## Make a map for a geography lesson

Try a map of **France, Spain, and Italy**. Give each country a different color so the class can identify them.

1. Find France with the country search or select it on the map.
2. Choose a fill color in the country controls.
3. Find Spain and Italy, then give each a color.
4. Select **Label** for a selected country, then place your text on the map.
5. Adjust the map view so all three countries are visible.
6. Select **Share**. Open the copied link to check the colors, labels, and view.

The finished map shows the three colored countries with your labels. A country fill follows the supplied boundary data. A hand-drawn polygon follows the points you draw. Use [data attribution](/data-attribution/) to check the boundary sources.

## Save, share, or export

Use **Share** for a link that opens the map in a browser. Use **Save** and sign in to keep an editable map in your account.

Use **Download** to inspect image and PDF export options. Check the preview and displayed price before you pay. Free drawing and sharing do not mean that every export option is free.

For a classroom handout, check the country colors, text size, and crop in the preview. Keep the source credits on the exported map.

## Add routes and markers

Use the drawing tools to add arrows, notes, and markers. A line you draw is a visual annotation. Use the [route planner](/route-planner/) if you need a path along roads or walking routes.

- [Map marker tool](/map-marker/): add pins and labels.
- [Interactive world map](/interactive-world-map/): explore countries and regions.
- [Map radius tool](/map-radius-tool/): show a fixed distance around a point.
