About this dataset

  • This map contains volcanoes with significant eruption records in the NOAA NCEI database. The selected records extend from 2000 to 2025.
  • NOAA selects significant events because of their impact, size, or association with a tsunami or major earthquake. The selection omits many eruptions.
  • Records marked as eruptions are grouped by volcano identifier. Each point retains the first and last qualifying year and the number of qualifying events.
  • Use the points to compare volcanic locations and add notes about recorded events. The source was downloaded on 15 September 2026.
  • This selection includes significant recorded eruptions and omits many smaller events. It does not show current activity, forecasts, or hazard zones.
