How do I draw on the map?

Select Freehand, then drag on the map to draw. Choose a color and line width in the toolbar.

How do I edit or delete a drawing?

Choose Select, then select a drawing. Drag it to move it, or use the selection controls to change or delete it.

How do I draw an exact radius?

Select Circle, then Enter exact radius. Enter the distance and click the center on the map. To draw by eye, drag from one edge to the opposite edge of the circle.

How do I save my map?

Select Save and sign in if asked. Save your changes again after editing. Find saved maps in My Maps.

How do I share my map?

Select Share to copy a link. A saved map link shows your saved changes. A link shared without saving keeps the map as it was when you shared it.

How do I export my map?

Open Import / Export and choose Image or Print or save as PDF. Check the preview and export options before downloading.

Draw a five-mile radius around an address

A radius is the distance from the center of a circle to its edge. Enter 5 miles to show all points within that direct distance of your chosen center. Exact radius circles and link sharing are free and require no account.

Search for the address. For an example, use 10 Downing Street, London.
Choose Enter exact radius in the circle controls.
Enter 5, select mi, and apply the value.
Click the address location on the map to place the center.
Select Share and open the copied link to check the result.

The circle has a radius of 5 miles and a diameter of 10 miles. The distance runs directly from the center to the edge. It does not follow roads.

A point inside the circle can require more than five miles of travel. Rivers, road layouts, and access restrictions can change the route. A circle does not show a drive-time area or an official school boundary.

Compare two distances

Place a 1 km circle at your chosen center. Then place a 3 km circle at the same center in another color. The smaller circle shows the nearer area; the larger circle shows the wider search area. Use Share to send both circles in one map.

Select an existing circle and use Enter exact radius to change its radius. Check the center and units before sharing.

Draw an approximate circle

Choose Draw a circle by eye and drag from one edge to the opposite edge. This sets the diameter. Use an exact radius when a measured distance matters.
