About this dataset

  • This map groups 43,401 coordinate-bearing bird records from 7 CC0 datasets returned by GBIF for GB and 2025.
  • Both the record and its source dataset must use CC0. Records in non-commercial or unclear-licence collections are excluded.
  • Each point is the centre of a GBIF map display cell. It is not the precise location of an observation.
  • Counts come from four complete zoom-level-4 map tiles. Their sum is checked against the matching GBIF occurrence-search count.
  • Record counts reflect reporting effort and can include repeated or approximate records. They do not measure bird population or abundance.
