About this dataset

  • Each area has an IANA time zone identifier. The map uses the complete timezones land-boundary release.
  • Use the areas to compare time zone coverage and add notes to a world map.
  • Boundaries are simplified with a tolerance of 0.02 degrees. Small boundary details can be omitted.
  • The source release is 2026c, published 2026-07-11. This map was prepared on 15 September 2026.
  • UTC offsets depend on the date and daylight saving rules. This layer does not supply a current UTC offset.
  • The areas are approximate time zone boundaries. They are not legal boundary evidence.
  • The standard map view ends near 85 degrees north and south. The download retains all source coordinates, including polar areas.
